Sponsors get behind the Club Marine Brisbane to Keppel
Friday, June 19th, 2009In today’s day and age sponsors are difficult to come by, but when an event such as the Club Marine Brisbane to Keppel Tropical Yacht Race shows in the calendar, the enthusiasm shown by potential sponsors is outstanding.
Ross O’Reilly from O’Reilly’s Real Estate is once again extremely proud to be a sponsor of the Club Marine Brisbane to Keppel Yacht Race in 2009.
“After the tremendous success of last year’s event and the great fun had by all, we are sure this year will be even more successful,” said Ross.
“This sponsorship presents a unique opportunity for our business to assist in bringing new people to our region to showcase its many outstanding attributes that we are proud and passionate about. Our boating and fishing playground around the beautiful Keppel Islands is second to none with the Keppel Bay Marina also a world class facility.”
The other sponsors to come onboard for this years race is the Rockhampton Regional Council, Capricorn Tourism, Budget Rental Cars, Rosslyn Bay Inn, Angove Wines and of course Club Marine as the naming rights sponsor. Clothing suppliers SLAM are also back on board to provide competitors and supporters official B2K race merchandise.
Host club Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron in conjunction with Keppel Bay Marine will welcome the sailors to Keppel Bay as they cross the finish line in the tropical Capricorn region.
“We look forward to watching all participants arrive in the Marina safely and joining in the race festivities,” said Ross.

Personal EPIRBS for Brisbane to Keppel
Thursday, June 18th, 2009The 3rd Club Marine Brisbane to Keppel Tropical Yacht Race (B2K) is only six weeks away which means skippers and crews are in the stages of organising the abundance of safety equipment required to race in a Category 2 event.
On the 31 July Personal EPIRB units are required to be carried by all crew whilst on deck for the duration of a Cat 2 race.
Peter Davidson from EPIRBhire has arranged a discounted offer for all B2K sailors to obtain a GME MT410G PLB or McMurdo Fast Find 211 PLB for the race therefore eliminating the need to purchase a unit outright.
“We will collect the information required by sailors to qualify for Category 2 safety requirements and provide the information to AMSA in the case of activation,” said Peter Davidson.
EPIRBhire has been hiring EPIRBs to Sydney to Hobart entrants for the last seven years.
The offer being made to B2K entrants is $55.00 per unit for two or more per boat. Information regarding the offer including the terms and conditions is available on the EPIRBhire website www.epirbhire.com.au.

3rd Club Marine Brisbane to Keppel Tropical Yacht Race Confirmed
Thursday, June 18th, 2009The Club Marine Brisbane to Keppel Tropical Yacht Race is on again with the start gun firing on Saturday 1st August at 1100 hours. Starting on the waters of Moreton Bay, the race is organised and conducted by the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron.
Now in its third year, the 348 nautical mile race is fast becoming one of the major races up the Queensland tropical coast. The race is the perfect passage for those planning on racing at both Airlie Beach and Hamilton Island Race Week.
In 2007 the event attracted 17 entries. There were 25 entries received in 2008 and event organisers are hopeful that up to 40 yachts will make the decision to race to glorious Keppel Bay.
Principal Race Officer Denis Thompson is confident the Victorian and New South Wales yachts will take the plunge to enter the Queensland event.
‘I’ve heard whispers from a few high profile yacht owners that they plan on racing this year, so hopefully we see those entries come in,’ said Thompson.
The 2008 Line Honours and IRC winner Black Jack will be back for this year’s race aiming to beat their record time set last year.
Club Marine is again the naming sponsor for this years race and the team at Keppel Bay Marina are enthusiastic to welcome the yachts as they cross the finishing line.
